The Swanage Jazz Club at the Isle of Purbeck GC
In partnership with Hampstead Jazz Club - which has become one of the most prestigious jazz venues in London since it first opened its doors four years ago - The Swanage Jazz Club at the Isle of Purbeck GC will be presenting a series of monthly shows featuring an array of world class homegrown and international jazz musicians.
One of the key principles of the Swanage Jazz Club at the Isle of Purbeck GC will be to support the best musicians in Dorset, affording them an opportunity to play with the crème de la crème of the jazz world.
“I was extremely excited when we first came up with the idea of launching a dedicated monthly jazz club at the Isle Of Purbeck Golf Club,” explains Mayank Patel, owner of the Hampstead Jazz Club.
“I have always been passionate about bringing jazz music to places you wouldn’t normally associate it with. We wanted to give local bands and musicians a unique opportunity to perform to broader audiences and to work with some of the very best jazz artists in the world. It’s all about sharing this joyous music and passing the torch on from musician to musician. Swanage Jazz Club will be presenting an eclectic range of first-class music which goes from the Great American Songbook all the way through to classic bebop or blues with a dash of soul. As Duke Ellington once said: ‘There are simply two kinds of music - good music and the other kind.’
Concerts will take place on Friday or Saturday evenings on a monthly basis. The Swanage Jazz Club at the Isle of Purbeck GC will offer dinner and music in the dining area or music and drinks / snacks in the bar.

FUTURE EVENT
JO HARROP ‘THE PATH OF A TEAR’ ALBUM TOUR
Saturday 2nd November
The Isle of Purbeck Golf Club in partnership with the Swanage Jazz Club, proudly present Jo Harrop, having launched the Swanage Jazz Club, she returns as part of her UK Album Tour for the new album The Path Of A Tear.
Jo Harrop possesses one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary jazz, yet she has soul running through her veins. The Path Of A Tear, Harrop’s superb fourth album on Lateralize Records, suggests an artist determined to keep moving forward as she dives into unchartered musical waters.
Released in June 2024, with launch events in New York, Los Angeles and Ronnie Scott’s Harrop will be performing songs from The Path Of A Tear.
Recorded in Los Angeles with legendary producer Larry Klein (best-known for his groundbreaking work with a host of iconic artists including Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock), The Path Of A Tear is an ear-watering slice of mid-70s soul with a sublime shot of jazz and a subtle twist of Americana.
Having won widespread critical acclaim for her last two albums, The Heart Wants and When Winter Turns To Spring, The Path Of A Tear sees Harrop finding her voice as a writer with elegant, confessional songs of unflinching honesty.
Few artists can convey the depth of emotion she evokes every time she opens her heart to sing. Her songs are where she lives. Music is a form of catharsis for Jo Harrop, an award-winning artist who would rather show you her battle scars than her trophies.
